Forensic engineering analysis is the systematic investigation of a failure — structural, envelope, mechanical, electrical or fire-related — to establish its root cause, the extent of resulting damage, and what it will cost to put right. Unlike a general inspection, which records what a building looks like today, a forensic analysis reconstructs why it got there and produces evidence intended to be tested by opposing experts, adjusters or a tribunal.
